Global Guide

As you work the numbers in your budget, perhaps the most important question to ask first is,

"Where will we shoot this project?"

Indeed, this question has be pondered time and time again by Line Producers, Production Managers and Producers the world over. In the end, it will come down to a few factors. To help you get there, ask yourself these questions:

Does the script call for any specific destinations?

Which distant locations might offer a rebate, or lower base shooting costs?

Are there cast or crew stipulations requiring or deterring me from traveling to a distant location?

Can the proposed budget support travel to a distant location?

Do the studio or financiers require the project to be shot in a particular location?

Once you know these answers, you'll be better equipped to make a decision on where to compare distant locations to shooting locally. This section breaks the world manageable parts, with information to give you a starting point from which to begin your work. May websites offer similar information, but at LineProducing.com, I've tried to make it manageable and catered to how we need to think. Additional links are provided as needed for additional research.
