Indeed, this question has be pondered time and time again by Line Producers, Production Managers and Producers the world over. In the end, it will come down to a few factors. To help you get there, ask yourself these questions:

Does the script call for any specific destinations?

Which distant locations might offer a rebate, or lower base shooting costs?

Are there cast or crew stipulations requiring or deterring me from traveling to a distant location?

Can the proposed budget support travel to a distant location?

Do the studio or financiers require the project to be shot in a particular location?
